On 14 December, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Darius Skusevičius met with the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov to discuss the key issues of bilateral relations between Lithuania and Armenia. Skusevičius emphasized the importance of interparliamentary relations and more active cooperation in the fields of business, reforms, and education.

On 13 December in Washington, D.C., the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Asta Skaisgirytė discussed strengthening transatlantic cooperation, international and regional security. She participated in the Political Directors’ Meeting of Foreign Ministries in the framework of the Enhanced Partnership in Northern Europe (e-PINE), as well as the Baltic-Nordic-U.S. defence policy dialogue.

On 12 December, the first Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in Iran was opened in Tehran. The consulate is headed by Mohsen Karimi Tabbasi, President at Yasin Group of Companies. This is the first diplomatic representation of Lithuania in Iran since the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Persian Empire in 1930.

At the Eleventh World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference (MC11) on 11 December in Buenos Aires, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Albinas Zananavičius met with the Director-General of the WTO Roberto Azevêdo and noted that Lithuania strongly believed that multilateral trade rules were beneficial and dedicated special attention to their implementation.

On 11 December, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Darius Skusevičius met with the outgoing Ambassador of Moldova to Lithuania Valeriu Frija and discussed bilateral relations between Lithuania and Moldova, as well as results of the recent Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels. Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister also thanked the Moldovan Ambassador for his personal contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

On the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, an informal meeting of EU Foreign Ministers with the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu took place on 11 November in Brussels. This was the first meeting of the Israeli Prime Minister with heads of EU institutions and Foreign Ministers from EU member states after a 22-year break.

On 8 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with Pat Cox, the Head of the European Parliament’s Needs Assessment Mission to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The Needs Assessment Mission has drafted recommendations on improving the efficiency of the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and on aligning legislation with the EU.

Referring to the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and preparations to move the US embassy to Jerusalem, Lithuania reiterates its position that the two-state solution remains the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

On 7 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius participated in the 24th OSCE Ministerial Council in Vienna and drew attention to the insufficient progress in resolving the Russia-provoked conflict in Ukraine, as well as called for finding new solutions to it.
