A Girl from Georgia Tops the Ratings at the Lithuanian MFA‘s YouTube Channel

Sixteen-year-old Lika Abramashvili from a small town in central Georgia, Khashuri, topped the viewership ratings at the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs channel on YouTube. Her video cover of a popular Lithuanian schlager “Tu numegzk man, mama, kelią” has been accessed more than 2,000 times since March.

The next most popular video at the MFA’s YouTube channel, the visit of the Lithuanian Eurovision band InCulto to Georgia, has been downloaded less than 500 times.

The popular composition by Mindaugas Tamošiūnas (music) and Marcelijus Martinaitis (lyrics) was first performed by Abramashvili during the Lithuanian Embassy’s National Day reception in Tbilisi on March 11, 2010, accompanied by Abkhazia State Youth Jazz-Band.

The song also featured in Lithuanian National Television’s charity concert to support the IDP children of Georgia in May this year, as well as during various events organized by the Embassy of Lithuania.

A Lithuanian Song by a Georgian” is one of the Embassy’s initiatives aimed at promoting the contemporary Lithuanian pop music in Georgia. In another project, the
Embassy was able to talk the 2009 Geostar talent show winner Nodiko Tatishvili into performing an all-time Lithuanian hit “Širdele mano” in Georgian.
