A photo exhibition dedicated to the 700th anniversary of Vilnius was opened in Kutaisi
On October 3 the "Vilnius 700" photo exhibition was opened in Kutaisi's Lado Meskhishvili State Drama Theater in cooperation with the Kutaisi City Hall and Lithuanian National Museum.
The exhibition presents historical images of Vilnius photographed by Juozap Čechavičius, Stanislav Filibert Fleury and Jan Bulkhak, which provide an opportunity to see how the city and its inhabitants looked in the past. Opening the exhibition, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia, Andrius Kalindra reminded about the 700th birthday of the city of Vilnius, celebrated this year and expressed his happiness about the successful cultural cooperation between Lithuanian and Georgia, as well as the opportunity given to the Georgian public to see the historical images of the capital of Lithuania. The Vice-Mayor of Kutaisi, Tamar Dakhundaridze and theater artistic director Giorgi Tavadze also gave a welcome speech to those present.
The exhibition, which will stay in Kutaisi from 3 to 17 October is part of the cycle of exhibitions dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the city of Vilnius. Residents of Tbilisi could admire the photographs in May, and after Kutaisi the exhibition will visit the capital of Samegrelo region, Zugdidi.
