Ambassador A. Kalindra met with Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia
On September 2 Ambassador A. Kalindra presented to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava the invitation of the Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania Marius Skuodis to take part at the International Transport Innovation Forum "Transport and Logistics 2050" to be held on October 21-22, 2021 in Vilnius.
The Forum will discuss key political and economic issues, hear strategic plans of countries' representatives in the field of transport innovation and digitalization, delve into the latest technological solutions, initiatives promoting international digital connectivity, green transport transformation, discuss trends that will shape the future of water, air and land transport in the nearest 30 years.
During the meeting of the Ambassador and the Minister, the issues of trade and economic cooperation between Lithuania and Georgia were also discussed by emphasizing that although in the first half of this year (compared with the same period of 2019) Lithuanian imports from Georgia actually doubled and reached 23.6 million euros as well as exports rose by 36.4 per cent till 20.1 million, the potential for developing bilateral trade and economic co-operation is far from being realized. The perspectives of co-operation between the two countries in the field of renewable energy were also discussed, and views on measures to combat the economic consequences of Covid-19, opportunities to hold a next meeting of the Lithuanian-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in Lithuania in 2022 were exchanged.
