Ambassador Andrius Kalindra held an introductory meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Davit Zalkaliani

On 28 October, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia, H.E. Mr. Andrius Kalindra held an introductory meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, H.E. Mr. Davit Zalkaliani and presented the copies of his diplomatic credentials. The meeting took place at the Premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

During the meeting, Ambassador Andrius Kalindra reaffirmed Lithuania’s consistent support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He expressed praise for the current state of the Lithuanian-Georgian relations, as two like-minded states and informed the Minister of the commitment to maintain a strong level of political dialogue with Georgia as well as further intensify bilateral consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and other line ministries of the two countries.

Ambassador also expressed full Lithuanian support for Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations with special focus on effective and swift implementation of the Association Agreement (AA) between Georgia and the European Union, as well as the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA). He pointed out that Lithuania commends Georgian partners for active participation in the Eastern Partnership initiative and values their input in shaping the EaP policy in the post-2020 period.

At the meeting, the importance of consolidated efforts to support international and regional peace and security initiatives, including the ones related to the situation in Nagorno Karabakh, was also underlined.
