Ambassador Andrius Kalindra Met Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi
On 14 December 2020, Ambassador Andrius Kalindra met Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, Mr. Andria Basilaia. The meeting took place at Tbilisi City Hall premises.
Ambassador and Deputy Mayor discussed close relations between Lithuania and Georgia, with a particular emphasis on fruitful partnership between the city of Vilnius and Tbilisi and exchanged ideas with regard to the possiblity of high-level visits to and from Lithuania during the upcoming year.
The conversation also covered the issue of marking the 30th anniversary of the tragic events of 13 January 1991. Ambassador informed Deputy Mayor on the Embassy’s intentions to hold a symbolic event in this regard in Vilnius Square in Tbilisi, requesting City Hall’s support in obtaining a permit for a very small-scale gathering.
In addition, Ambassador Kalindra also communicated Embassy’s plan to hold cultural series of events entitled “Window to Lithuania”, which is planned for 27-29 May 2021 and will consist of film screenings, concerts, talks and other types of activities presenting Lithuanian culture to Georgian audiences. Deputy Mayor confirmed Tbilisi City Hall’s openness to such a proposition.
