On 23 December 2020, Lithuanian Ambassador in Georgia Andrius Kalindra met the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Mr. Archil Talakvadze, with whom he discussed bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation
„On 10 December newly elected Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania adopted a Resolution on the long-term guidelines and continuity of Lithuania’s foreign and European policy, which also pays great attention to Lithuania's further support for Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration and sovereignty and territorial integrity” - the objectives and principles of this resolution were presented by the Lithuanian Ambassador.
Andrius Kalindra also informed that the Group for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with Georgia has already been formed, it consists of 41 members of the Parliament and Mr. Raimundas Lopata has been elected the chairperson of the group. Interparliamentary friendship groups are expected to continue to contribute to close cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
With regard to bilateral cooperation, the participants agreed that there are untapped opportunities to deepen inter-institutional cooperation, as well as to focus on strengthening the independence of institutions, developing cooperation in the field of environment and renewable energy.
