Ambassador Andrius Kalindra met with the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari

On June 13 Ambassador Andrius Kalindra met with the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari. During the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated the minister on his new duties and expressed his happiness about the excellent cooperation between the educational and scientific institutions of the two countries. 

The embassy's partnership with Georgian Technical University is especially appreciated, in the premises of which the only center of Lithuanian language and culture in the South Caucasus states is located. "We are still ready to ensure the continued operation of the center," said Ambassador Andrius Kalindra. During the meeting, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, thanked Lithuania for the political, economic, and humanitarian support to Georgia, and stated that he was happy about the excellent cooperation between the countries in the fields of higher education and research, expressing hope that these relations will strengthen even more in the future. After the Ambassador shared information about Lithuania's experience in reforming the network of higher education institutions, the Minister presented ideas about possible reforms of higher education in Georgia as well as the planned decentralization of the network of secondary education institutions. During the meeting, the possibility of publishing a dictionary of the Lithuanian - Georgian languages on the occasion of the upcoming 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations was also discussed.

Minister of Education and Science, Giorgi Amilakhvari, assumed his duties on March 20, 2023.
