He condemned Russia’s new plans for including Abkhazia into its socio-economic space.

Ambassador pointed out the program of the Government of Lithuania and the resolution of the Parliament of Lithuania that reconfirmed support to Georgia’s integration into EU and NATO and its territorial integrity. He also thanked Prime Minister Gakharia for Georgian Parliament’s resolution on Foreign Affairs, which expressed firm commitment to join European and Euro-Atlantic community and named Lithuania with other Baltic States as strategic partners.

On the topic of the results of recent elections, Ambassador pointed out that political confrontation is not beneficial to anyone and Lithuania encourages the use of the possibility of inclusive and meaningful political dialogue.

Ambassador Kalindra informed Prime Minister Gakharia that Lithuania has initiated a letter signed by 13 European Union Foreign Ministers to set up a support mechanism, allowing the Eastern Partners to secure early access to the COVID-19 vaccine.

Discussion also covered the topics of upcoming NATO and Eastern Partnership summits, in terms of which Lithuania pledges its full support to Georgia’s aspirations, planning to present ambitious plans for the Eastern Partners of the European Union, especially those possessing the Association Agreement.

It was pointed out that partnership between Lithuania and Georgia should be extended to the issues of renewable energy initiatives, youth, cultural and academic exchange.

Finally, Ambassador informed Prime Minister Gakharia that Lithuania has officially and irreversibly made a decision to use Sakartvelas in Lithuanian language as an official, not alternate name for Georgia, which is a reflection of how Lithuania and its people value the voice and the choice of Georgia.
