Ambassador discussed cooperation between Lithuania and Georgia in the field of border protection

On December 17, Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia, Andrius Kalindra, met with the Head of the Georgian Border Service, Mr. Nikoloz Sharadze, with whom he discussed bilateral and multilateral co-operation in the fields of border protection and migration.

"Lithuania welcomes the cooperation of the Georgian Border Service with the Member States of the European Union and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) in order to smoothly pursue further commitments to ensure the implementation of a safe migration and mobility policy after the entry into force of visa-free regime between EU and Georgia".
 
The participants of the meeting emphasized the importance of ensuring border protection with the help of the latest technologies, and that both sides are ready to deepen cooperation and exchange experiences on these and other issues. The State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of 
 
Lithuania and the Georgian Border Service are ready to continue co-operation, especially by exchanging good practices in training border service specialists.
 
Bilateral co-operation has been developing since 2006, with the development and implementation of plans for mutual co-operation, which are updated every two years and share expertise between countries' services in the fields of maritime and land border protection, cross-border crime research, immunity training and logistics.
