Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia, Andrius Kalindra, met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili
On 17 January 2022, Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia, Andrius Kalindra, met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili.
During the meeting, the Ambassador emphasized Lithuania's support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia in the face of the ongoing Russian aggression, integration of Georgia with the European Union and NATO, and the implementation of reforms. According to the Ambassador, "both countries and their people are connected by extremely friendly, values-based bilateral relations, which include political dialogue, active economic, cultural, and academic exchanges."
The attention was drawn to the importance of interparliamentary and sectoral cooperation to facilitate the implementation of the EU-Georgia association agreement, DCFTA with the EU, as well as the corresponding reforms. Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili said that the Georgian Parliament will focus on harmonizing legislation with European Union law and noted the importance of bilateral cooperation in EU-funded Twinning projects.
Ambassador Andrius Kalindra delivered a letter with greetings to the newly elected Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili from the Speaker of the Parliament of Lithuania Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen along with the invitation to visit Lithuania.
