Ambassador Paslauskas Visits Poti

Ambassador Jonas Paslauskas visited Poti in Western Georgia this Monday, where he met with the academic community of the local branch of Kutaisi Technical University. The ambassador discussed Lithuania’s foreign policy, as well as NATO’s objectives and its relations with the South Caucasus countries.

"NATO is open to cooperation with partners. It is very important that Georgia continues to reform and contributes to international operations. This shows Georgia is capable of carrying out the functions, which the Alliance is already implementing," stressed Ambassador Paslauskas.

The ambassador underlined the importance of reforms to Georgia and urged to continue on the path of transformations.

The ambassador also met with the local authorities and discussed possibilities of expanding cooperation between Poti and Lithuanian seaport of Klaipėda.

The program of the visit also included a meeting with the representatives of the Georgian Coast Guard.

From 1 of January this year, the Embassy of Lithuanian to Georgia acts as NATO Contact Point Embassy. Visiting the regions and meeting with the local population is one of the Embassy’s top priorities.
