Ambassador visited Batumi to open a large-scale renewable energy project

On June 4, 2021, the Ambassador of Lithuania, Andrius Kalindra, visited Batumi and took part in an event dedicated to the successful completion of a project to equip the city's public schools with solar energy systems. The event was also attended by the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze, and the heads of the companies implementing the project from the Lithuanian and Georgian sides.

The project entitled "Bilateral Cooperation Introducing Photovoltaic Energy Solutions in Batumi Public Schools" was funded by the Project Management Agency of the Lithuanian Ministry of Environment Protection with more than 500 thousand Euros and installed 323.7 kW solar panels in 13 public schools in Batumi. The project was implemented by the Lithuanian company ViaSolis in close cooperation with the Georgian Energy Development Fund.

The Ambassador also held a separate meeting with the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, where they discussed Georgia's path to the development of renewable energy sources and further possible steps towards a green economy. The Ambassador reaffirmed Lithuania's readiness to continue sharing proven best practices in the field of environmental protection to Georgia.
