Contemporary Lithuanian painting and textile exhibition
On the 28th of September 2006 “Hobby” gallery in Tbilisi will be presenting a contemporary Lithuanian painting and textile exhibition “The Metaphysics of Spaces”. Works of ten Lithuanian painters of various generations and eleven textile specialists will be presented at the exhibition. The organizers are the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Georgia and the Art agency “Dialogue Tours” (Vilnius). The joint exhibition of contemporary Lithuanian painting and textile art “The Metaphysics of Spaces” is an attempt to revisit the roads of experiment and discovery that Lithuanian painters and textile artists walked at the end of 20th and the early 21st century, an attempt to show the creative realms that opened after breaking free of political as well as personal boundaries. Every artist searches for the world, finds it and perceives it in his or her unique way. No matter how varied the stage of the contemporary Lithuanian painting and textile seems to be, all these artists have one thing in common-they aspire to contribute an impression to the viewer’s consciousness. The exhibition is continuing old traditions of cooperation between Georgia and Lithuania that were neglected for some time and that are now being reborn. During recent years not only has Georgian society gotten acquainted with contemporary Lithuanian painters and masters of jewel art but Georgian songs and dances have reached Lithuania and Georgian wine has found the Lithuanian table again. The Lithuanian joint painting and textile exhibition at the “Hobby” gallery in Tbilisi should serve as another step to a cultural dialogue between the Baltic and the Caucasus regions, between Lithuania and Georgia. The exhibition will be open until the 10th of October 2006.
