Day of Restoration of Independence of Lithuania celebrated in Georgia

On March 10, Lithuanian community celebrated the Day of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Georgia. During the event the exhibition “Building Lithuania Together” prepared by the Department of National Minorities under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania was presented.

When congratulating the guests, Lithuanian Ambassador Mr. Andrius Kalindra drew attention to the exciting memories of the signatories of the Lithuanian Act of Independence and noted that Lithuania was mentioned in the textbook on world history published by Oxford University as a change in world order. “Due to the events of 11 March 1990, all opportunities are now in our hands. Let's protect it!“ The Ambassador said during the event.

Letters of gratitude were presented to Ms. Dalia Baltrūnaitė, the Chairperson of the Lithuanian community in Georgia “Rūta” and Ms. Lidija Giorgobiani, the Head of the Lithuanian School in Tbilisi, on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of both organizations for their continious efforts in fostering Lithuanian culture, traditions and community.

The celebrations of the Day of Restoration of Independence of Lithuania will be concluded on March 12 with a  screening of R. Banionis‘ film “Children from the Hotel “America“.
