Day of Restoration of Lithuania's Independence was solemnly commemorated in Georgia
94th anniversary of the Restoration of Lithuania‘s Independence was solemnly commemorated in Tbilisi on 16 February. The reception was held at Tbilisi National Youth Palace. The venue was chosen not by an accident. In the same building, on 26 May of the same 1918, during the meeting of the Transcaucasian Seim Georgian delegation proclaimed Georgia a sovereign country.
National anthems of Lithuania and Georgia were performed by Georgian folk group "Chveneburi".
Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia Mr. Jonas Paslauskas and Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia and State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Mr. Giorgi Baramidze gave welcoming speeches to the members of Parliament of Georgia, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries, local municipalities and diplomatic corps, as well as to the members of local Lithuanian communities and other honorable guests.
