„EuroBasket 2011“ officially presented in Tbilisi
Today Mr. Arvydas Sabonis, the ambassador of European Men's Basketball Championship (“EuroBasket 2011”), held a press conference and presented the championship, which will take place in Lithuania on August 31 - September 18, for the Georgian audience.The event was attended by the Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia H.E. Jonas Paslauskas, heads of Basketball Federation of Georgia and the Department of sports, legendary basketball player N.Deriugin and basketball fans.
During a press conference Arvydas Sabonis invited Georgian basketball fans to come to Lithuania in order to support their team.
"I am particularly pleased that a Georgian national team will play in this championship. I wish you all success, and we are waiting for you in Lithuania" - said A. Sabonis.
Georgia is the ninth country, in which A. Sabonis and organizers of “EuroBasket 2011” presented the championship. In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, A.Sabonis has already visited Slovenia, Great Britain, Germany, Russia, Spain, Israel, Latvia and Greece.
Presentation of the European Basketball Championship in Lithuania is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
"EuroBasket 2011” will be held in six cities in Lithuania: Alytus, Klaipėda, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Vilnius and Kaunas. For the first time in European basketball history, will attend the Old Continent's top 24 teams.
Georgian national team will start a championship in Klaipėda.
