Garden of Lithuania opened in the heart of Georgia

On the 6th of December, a Garden of Lithuania was opened in Khashuri (central Georgia). Project was financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, company "ACME group" and the municipality of Khashuri.

 

H.E. Jonas Paslauskas, Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia, participated in the opening ceremony. He emphasized that this development cooperation project is a good example of initiative which has been supported not only by local authorities, but also by private business.

"It is good to see that Lithuania's initiatives are interesting not only to local municipalities, but also are attractive to business. Such partnership of public and private sectors expand the opportunities of Lithuania's development cooperation policy" - said Mr. Paslauskas.

Lika – a girl resident of Khashuri - performed in lithuanian language a song "Childhood", created by band "Studija".

After opening of Garden of Lithuania, Ambassador of Lithuania visited the children library, which had been renovated recently using the funds from Lithuania’s Development cooperation and democracy promotion program.

Khashuri municipality has established partnership ties with Radviliškis city.

Lithuania has been implemented the projects under the Development cooperation and democracy promotion program since 2005. These projects are aimed to promote democratic development, economic growth, social stability and cohesion.
