Georgia receives 15,000 doses of COVID 19 vaccines donated by Lithuania

On Saturday morning, 24 July 2021, 15,000 doses of Vaxzevria (Astrazeneca) vaccine donated by the Government of Lithuania to Georgia arrived in Tbilisi International Airport. In the airport, the cargo was received by the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Lithuania to Georgia, Mr. Saulius Valainis and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Mr. Alexander Khvtisiashvili.

Taking the global nature of the COVID 19 pandemic into account and recognizing the fact that partners and friendly countries must support each other in overcoming the challenges posed by this pandemic, Lithuania has committed to donating 200,000 doses of vaccines to European Union’s Eastern Partnership initiative participants in accordance to their population sizes. The information about donating the vaccines was announced by the Prime Minister of Lithuania, Ms. Ingrida Šimonytė and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Mr. Gabrielius Landsbergis in the middle of May 2021.
