Lithuanian Architecture Exhibition Opens in Tbilisi

An exhibition of contemporary Lithuanian architecture "Houses LT" was opened in Tbilisi New Technology Centre on Friday. The exhibition presents 37 residential houses designed and built by well-known Lithuanian architects over the past ten years.

"In today's globalized world, can such a small object as a residential house reflect national trends in architecture? Why not!", claim the exhibition's organizers.

Visitors will have a chance to get acquainted not only with contemporary trends in Lithuanian architecture, but also with the choice of preference and aesthetic views of a middle-class Lithuanian family.

"The customer's approach to the design of a residential house reflect what values he or she represent. The works presented at this exhibition show that such issues as national or regional identity in Lithuanian architecture are becoming less relevant and the works of our architects more or less echo the global trends", says the exhibition curator Gintaras Balcytis.

His idea to present contemporary Lithuanian architecture to the Georgian public was supported and implemented by the Kaunas Branch of Lithuania's Architects Union, in cooperation with the Embassy of Lithuania in Georgia.

The exhibition will last until October 11th.

Location: 15th km, David Aghmashenebeli Lane (at the entrance to Tbilisi from Mtskheta)
