Lithuanian jazz improvisations in Georgia by Kestutis Vaiginis

Throughout this week, jazz fans in Georgia have an opportunity to enjoy jazz, performed by Lithuanian saxophonist Kestutis Vaiginis. The was invited to Georgia by the Embassy of Lithuania and Georgian national theatre of shadows.

K. Vaiginis has already performed with Georgian artists in Tbilisi Jazz Club “Kala” and Ilia Chavchavadze University.

On 14th April saxophonist from Lithuania will play in the jazz club "Magti”. The series of concerts will end on 15th April in Shota Rustaveli National Theatre in Tbilisi -  K.Vaiginis  will give a live performance during a shadow theater performance called "History of Jazz."

This is the first joint performance of Lithuanian musician and Georgian national theatre of shadows. The idea to create a performance about the history of jazz with a use of the shadows came to a legendary Georgian director and actor Gela Kandelaki during the tour of the theater in Lithuania. The theater visited Lithuania as a gesture of acknowledgement the support from Lithuania to Georgia during August 2008 war.

"Lithuania is famous for its jazz tradition. I am delighted to present Kestutis Vaiginis, who is a contemporary jazz artist. Joint work of Georgian and Lithuanian artists is yet another proof that music and art have no borders, and it is also not affected by the differences of culture, language and traditions " – noted Jonas Paslauskas, Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia.
