Palanga and Kobuleti signed an agreement on cooperation

Mr. Šarūnas Vaitkus, Mayor of Lithuanian resort city Palanga, met with the heads of Kobuleti city, and signed an agreement of cooperation with Mr. Niko Beradze, chairman of Kobuleti council (Sakrebulo). Both towns agreed to maintain close contacts in the fields of tourism, culture, economics and other areas.

 

Delegation from Palanga also met with Mr. Robert Chkhaidze, Mayor of Batumi, who presented both old and modern history of Batumi, and the potential of its development. Later guests from Lithuania met with Mr. Levan Varshalomidze, head of Ajara Government. Mayor of Palanga invited Mayor of Batumi and Head of Ajara Government to visit Palanga.

 

Palanga joined a big group of Lithuanian and Georgian cities, that have already established friendly relations.


In 2009 Lithuania and Georgia signed a bilateral Charter for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, which envisaged the strengthening of ties between municipalities. Currently other municipalities of Lithuania and Georgia are also discussing the possibilities of deeper cooperation.
