PM’s Meeting with Speaker of Georgian Parliament: Special Emphasis on Development of Good Relations

 

A strong state and its institutions, implementation of democratic principles and Lithuania’s experience and its relevance to Georgia were among the topics discussed during the meeting of Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas with Nino Burjanadze, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia. The Lithuanian Prime Minister is on an official visit to Georgia today.

 

Ms Burjanadze stressed that good relations between the two countries’ governments and parliaments greatly helped Georgia benefit from Lithuania’s experience. According to the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Georgia is interested in maintaining these relations.

 

Special emphasis was placed on Georgia’s interest in business investments. Ms Burjanadze underlined that the Georgian Parliament was going to adopt legislation for improvement of investment conditions and creation of a business-friendly environment; also, she stressed an initiative that was launched for property law aimed at promoting a favourable business and investment climate. The Speaker also added that Georgia had an intention to establish a joint Business Council with the Baltic and Nordic countries.
