Radviliškis and Khashuri Sign Cooperation Agreement

A cooperation agreement between the municipalities of Radviliškis (Lithuania) and Khashuri (Central Georgia) was signed in Radviliškis this Friday. The agreement provides for the exchange of the official delegations and art collectives, as well as sharing experience and information on current reforms.

The document was signed by Mayor of Radviliškis District Municipality Antanas Čepononis and Head of Khashuri Municipality Mamuka Mosiashvili.

"The cooperation agreement wraps up the work already done and lays the foundation for new cooperation projects," says Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia Jonas Paslauskas.

Cooperation between Radviliškis and Khashuri started in 2010, under the initiative and active support of the Lithuanian Embassy.

Just like Radviliškis, Khashuri is an important railway junction and struggles to overcome the effects of the post-Soviet disintegration.

Lithuania and Georgia have committed to strengthen the ties between local municipalities under the bilateral charter signed by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in 2009. Talks are ongoing between other municipalities of Lithuania and Georgia regarding new possible cooperation arrangements.
