Tbilisi International Will Stage Two "Hamlets" from Lithuania
The citizens and the guests of Tbilisi will have a unique opportunity to enjoy two outstanding Lithuanian performances during Tbilisi International Festival of Theatre starting today. On October 3rd, Alexander Griboedov State Russian Theatre will stage William Shakespeare's Hamlet directed by Oskaras Koršunovas. Another Hamlet under the direction of a world-renown theatre director Eimuntas Nekrošius will be performed at the prestigious Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli Drama Theatre on October 8th.
Andrius Mamontovas, a famous Lithuanian rock artist, will cast as Hamlet in Nekrošius's piece.
Both Koršunovas's OKT Theatre and Nekrošius's Meno Fortas Theatre Studio participated at Tbilisi International last year. In 2009, OKT Theatre played Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and Meno Fortas was performing Goethe's Faust.
The Marjanishvili theatre hall could hardly accommodate all the audience during both performances.
