The new building of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia was officially opened on March 25th. The event was attended by the Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Aistė Stakėnienė, diplomats from EU member states and other countries, representatives of the Lithuanian community in Georgia, and friends of Lithuania.
In her speech, the Chancellor emphasized that the opening of the new embassy building symbolizes the long-standing relationship between the people of Lithuania and Georgia, not only in a diplomatic context but also in a historical and cultural. She highlighted Lithuania's strong support for strengthening democracy in Georgia and Georgia's aspirations to build European future despite all challenges. "I hope this bright building will not only be our diplomatic representation but also a home for the local Lithuanian community, like-minded Georgians, and all those united by European values," said the Chancellor.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia Darius Vitkauskas noted the significance of acquiring the new building, which demonstrates Georgia's importance in Lithuania's diplomacy. He also emphasized the contributions of all those involved in the project and expressed his sincere gratitude to them. "Thanks to the combined efforts of many people and companies in both Tbilisi and Vilnius, their meticulous and patient work, we have achieved a great final result - a beautiful, cozy, comfortable building adapted to representational, and staff needs, featuring elements of traditional Lithuanian culture and history, and embodying the Lithuanian spirit," the Ambassador stressed.
